OVERVIEW
I spent the summer advocating for modernization at one of Las Vegas' most historic casinos.
I arrived to the famous Fremont Street as a Digital Marketing Intern, but quickly realized that outdated and inefficient systems blah blah blah.
PROBLEM
Golden Nugget Las Vegas' biggest events were being held back by outdated tools and processes
To run GNLV's largest yearly events, staff relied on the following:
Beyond its inconvenience, the system posed a greater risk: only two people—the Executive Director of Marketing Operations and the Special Event Manager—knew how to operate it. If either were to leave or retire, the institutional knowledge they took with them would be difficult to replace.
SOLUTION
A digital tool that centralizes guest and seat management in one place
Staff relied on a single Excel sheet to log guest information such as names, seat counts, and registration status, and used a 5-foot-tall whiteboard to plan table layouts and assign seats on event day.
CORE FLOWS
DESIGN DECISIONS
How should users upload items into the app?
Ideally users could paste product links and the app would auto-fill details like image, title, and price, but scraping across e-commerce sites introduces reliability, maintenance, and legal challenges.

REFLECTION
My takeaways...
Understanding the problem beats rushing the solution.
I knew the increment selector felt clunky and imprecise so I tested it with users in order to better understand why.
Designing unique components is incredibly complicated.
The crux of this project was resolving the tension between solving a unique problem while making the experience feel familiar.
Thank you to Golden Nugget Las Vegas and Landry's for the incredible opportunity to experience life on Fremont Street while pursuing my dream of designing products that make an impact.
